Who We Spend Time With, Is Who We Become!

Whatever the industry, leadership and business can be a lonely place - particularly when it comes to making those bold decisions necessary to secure progress. In the absence of peer colleagues, finding the right people to confide in, bounce ideas off, and test the integrity of your thinking, can be a risky business. Who can you trust to maintain your confidence, ask the right questions, and give objective feedback - without taking over, or being overly biased? Yet without access to alternative perspectives, how confident can you be that your thinking is properly aligned with your end goals?

Coaching offers one solution, but not everyone has the budget for this - and not everyone wants it. An alternative is to grow our networks of trusted contacts, people with whom we can share thoughtful conversations about things that matter to us, and to them.

This is the intention behind the communities listed on this page – to bring people together from a range of different industries to think together, make connections, test ideas, hone instincts, and ultimately, grow our leadership skills.

Prices vary - starting from £16 per person per event - please check individual events for details.

Who Are These Events For?

The intention behind these communities is to bring together leaders and business owners from a broad range of different industries keen to make connections, build networks, and think with other like-minded professionals about everyday challenges of modern business. Community events are particularly valuable for ‘accidental leaders’, people who are great at what they do but now, as a result of their success, find themselves - without any formal preparation or training – having to develop their leadership and management skills on the job.

Participants include:
  • Start up and established entrepreneurs
  • Micro and small business owners
  • Senior & mid-level managers
  • Health professionals
  • Executive coaches
  • Authors

At the moment, all community groups meet online. I do have plans to start organising in person events in the future so please do keep an eye out.

How Many People Attend Community Events?

Logo graphic

Community events are designed for small groups – how many people attend depends on the theme of each event & people’s availability. Because the events are intended to be very interactive, numbers are capped to ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate.

The cap for Network & Grow events is 12. The cap for Business Bookworms & The Quote Club is 8. If demand exceeds these numbers, extra events will be scheduled.

Do I Need To Become A Member In Order To Attend Any Of These Events?

No, none of the communities listed on this page are membership groups, so you do not have to commit to coming along every month and can dip in and out, depending on your interest and availability.

NB The Quote Club and Business Bookworms are both small groups with a cohort of regular attendees, so I do always check with them first before agreeing to someone new coming along. This may take a couple of days so please factor this into your thinking when you choose your date to attend.

Network & Grow events are entirely open & flexible – there is no commitment, just come along whenever you spot a title that appeals.

What People Are Saying

I feel so grateful to have stumbled on Karen’s work and wonderful events at this stage in life. I am very used to engaging in reflective practice and joining networking groups. This one is profound in the slightly abstract but very powerful way that Karen introduces topics and beautifully facilitates them. It is wonderful value to take space with no expectation and benefit from the input and perspectives of other coaches, trainers and professionals in such an open way. A very encouraging and energising experience which felt safe and sincere as well as positive and practical.

Kate King

NHS Complaints Case Manager

I have attended a good number of Karen`s events now and have found them all to be a really valuable use of my time. Every event has given rise to thought-provoking discussion with fellow attendees and I have gone away with notes, ideas or a way forward for my business which I would not have gained without this interaction. The well thought out historical content that Karen creates, combined with her exceptional coaching skills makes each event fascinating, captivating and inspiring. These events provide a novel interpretation of historical turning points, drawing meaningful connections to contemporary life and work. I would highly recommend them for senior managers who want something truly unique to motivate their middle to senior management teams.

Sarah Houldcroft

Goldcrest Books

I`ve attended many of Karen`s events and find them inspiring and thought-provoking. Her insightful questions help generate different perspectives and the thoughts shared by other participants take my thinking even further. I highly recommend Karen, her coaching and her events if you want to develop yourself and your business. Brilliant group coaching!

Kristina Rosenqvist

Leadership Coach

I have participated in a number of group coaching talks which Karen presented and have found them to be insightful, thought provoking and relevant to the challenges and issues that I have had to tackle as a leader and manager within the health sector. Karen`s approach entails drawing of aspects of history that have parallels to the present day and the use analogy that simplifies issues that would otherwise be complex in nature. I would highly recommend attending any of Karen`s coaching presentation as an introduction to her unique style of coaching and gaining insight from her vast business and clinical experience.

Ignatius Chikambi

Nursing Services Manager, Private Sector

Level of audience participation was spot on for the time available and topic. I enjoy the way the information and questions you set gets you looking at different aspects of business. In particular, how the stage people are at in their business journeys effects their thoughts on the subject. Would definitely recommend.
